My teaching philosophy centers on making complex concepts accessible by breaking them down into logical, manageable steps while maintaining a supportive, student-focused environment. With a background in civil engineering, I naturally apply analytical problem-solving to my instruction, helping students understand the "why" behind a concept rather than just memorizing the "how." Over the past two years in online education, I have developed a highly versatile approach. As a one-on-one math tutor, I have successfully guided US students from Kindergarten through Algebra 1. I utilize techniques like model drawing and stepwise reasoning to build strong foundational skills and mathematical confidence. Additionally, my experience as an online ESL teacher for students across Japan, China, and Vietnam has deeply honed my adaptability. Working across different cultures and language barriers taught me patience and the importance of clear, precise communication. What makes me a great teacher is this combination of technical precision and empathetic communication.
